Scientific realism is a philosophical movement that refers to the belief that our understanding of the world is based on the observation and measurement of natural phenomena, and from there, we understand how the social system works. The problem is that this movement directly conflicts with idealist and constructivist positions. To understand the systems approach and how it can help us understand reality and make better decisions, I recommend these four books:

In hunt of reality

Mario Bunge's "Hunting for Reality" is a work that critically addresses the relationship between philosophy and science, questioning philosophical positions that stray from reality and scientific knowledge. Bunge defends scientific realism, arguing that reality exists independently of our perceptions and that it can be known through the scientific method. The book examines the philosophical currents that, according to Bunge, have contributed to the confusion and relativism in the understanding of reality, proposing a more rigorous, evidence-based approach to the pursuit of knowledge.

Social Systems and Philosophy

Mario Bunge's "Social Systems and Philosophy" explores the intersection of philosophy and the social sciences, analyzing how philosophical concepts can help understand and shape social systems. Bunge proposes a systematic and scientific approach to studying social structures and dynamics, criticizing sociological theories that lack rigor and are based on subjectivity or ideologies. Throughout the book, Bunge defends the need for a philosophy that is compatible with scientific knowledge and provides useful tools for the analysis of social reality, promoting a holistic and materialist approach to the study of societies.

The Mirror of the Brain

"The Brain's Mirror" by Nazareth Castellanos explores the relationship between the brain and the body, highlighting how the two constantly interact to create our experience of the world. Castellanos, a neuroscientist specializing in neuroscience and mind-body research, explains how the brain not only responds to external stimuli but is also shaped by the body's physical and emotional state. Throughout the book, she delves into concepts such as brain plasticity, the importance of breathing, and the connection between the brain and the heart, offering an integrative perspective that challenges the idea that the brain operates in isolation.

Neuroscience of the Body

“Neuroscience of the Body” by Nazareth Castellanos explores how the body and brain are intrinsically connected, mutually influencing how we experience the world and our daily lives. Castellanos, from her neuroscientific perspective, emphasizes that the brain is not just an isolated organ that directs our functions, but is deeply connected to all of the body's systems, including the heart, intestines, and skin. The book addresses topics such as the importance of posture, breathing, and emotions, demonstrating how our bodily experiences can shape our minds and vice versa. Through this work,

Mario Bunge's books are excellent for exploring Scientific Realism, while Nazareth Castellanos' books are excellent for exploring human behavior from a neuroscience perspective with a holistic approach. Enjoy them.
